One of my photos will soon be traveling around the north, in a rather big way. This photo of an Arctic Hare that I took this spring was bought by First Air. In about a month’s time it will be put up on the tail fin of one of their ATR-42 turboprop passenger planes traveling on routes in Nunavut.
I’m often critical of First Air, especially about the cost of flying here in Nunavut and the impacts it has on all aspects of our lives. But I am grateful for the work they do in the north, and I am very grateful for this opportunity to showcase one of my photos, and for their purchasing of it. Look up, that might be my photo up there…

Hey, congrats! By strange coincidence (considering I live in Wisconsin) it’s actually to First Air’s inflight magazine that I’ve sold my first freelance article. It’ll be published in July.
Congratulations!
Congratulations! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a First Air plane, but I’ll keep an eye out the next time I’m at an airport.
I’ll look for your article in Above & Beyond when it comes out Rebecca.
Thanks Tuesy
You’d be unlikely to see one John. They’re a regional airline operating in the Canadian north. They wouldn’t have southern skeds beyond gateway cities such as Ottawa, Montreal etc.
Clare – I stumbled upon your blog by chance, while researching Yellowknife Fancy Meats (great article btw, very interested in finding what meats they sell and where to – Norman Wells?). Am captivated by your hare photo – will surely look for it on First Air (although personally I travel with Canadian North due to a deal with my company). Anyway, congratulations – it would be my dream to be published in a Northern Magazine.
Thanks Christina. Unfortunately since Nutrition North kicked in we don’t order from Northern Fancy anymore. Not the same deal anymore. I’ve still been looking for the Hare photo but as of yet I haven’t seen it.
