Yesterday it snowed, and snowed. It was probably one of the heavier snowfalls I've seen here, at least one unaccompanied by wind.  Environment Canada's site showed there was 18.6 mm of precipitation, which I believe translates into 18.6 cms of snow on average.  It would be a little less than average though as it was a moderately moist heavy snow.  Judging by snow on surfaces we got in the neighbourhood of 8 to 10 inches.

Yesterday evening, late in the snowfall, we were sitting in the living room when we heard a loud rumble, followed by the crash of snow onto the deck.  About 8 inches of heavy snow was letting go and avalanching off the roof.  It was impressive.  A little while later I heard a rumble when I was in the kitchen and ran to the back door in time to witness the avalanche on the larger side of the roof.  Wow!  Snow hitting our parking lot actually pushed snow on the ground out of the way creating a trench.  This morning there was about 2 feet of snow piled up where it landed.

So I guess there is no escaping winter now.  Even the Bay has begun to freeze.  Its a little unsettling. Not because its freezing but because of the timing.  Its roughly on time, a little early, but we've got a sealift ship arriving on Tuesday, with our sealift on it!_MG_1885
