I got to thinking this morning (yeah, I know… rare event) that as incredibly generous of my offering a pound of great coffee for a bit of Grail quest (wintering Gyrfalcon) was, it doesn't really accomplish the loftier goal of increasing Nunavut participation in the Great Backyard Bird Count. I mean, I hope that someone sees the Gyrfalcon in Arctic Bay and takes home the coffee, but really that is for a personal interest.
So I'm sweetening the pot. Anyone, in Nunavut, who participates in this coming weekend's Great Backyard Bird Count is eligible to win a copy of Birds of Canada. This a large Hardcover guide to some 600 species of birds, and it can be yours.
Here is how it works:
1) Take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count on one or more days this weekend (February 13-16th, 2009)
2) Submit a checklist online at the GBBC site
3) Send me a quick email letting me know that you have submitted a checklist and for what community/area (clareleah AT qiniq DOT com)
Next week I'll draw one name from all the names submitted and the winner will receive their copy in the mail from me.
