Some time, in the last two or three days, the sun began setting. We will now have three months or so of rapidly diminishing sun, before it sets for three months. On average we lose 20 minutes of sun every day until November 5th when the sun sets. It is still light here for 24 hours, and around midnight we have just the beginning of dusk.
I love this time of rapidly changing light, the land is different every single day. You could take pictures everyday and it would look different. What a wonderful place I live in.

20 minutes a day! Yep, that’d make things seem different… Here, we’re at the deep end of winter. Lambing’s in full swing on the lower country; the plum by the dog kennels is just about to burst into flower, and the days are lengthening. I can also tell we’re nearing the end of winter because I’ve just come down with a ripsnorter of a cold.
Yes, you certainly do seem to have a wonderful place in which to live, Clare. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Clare–enjoy those sunsets! In contrast to Pete’s report from New Zealand, the wheat has just been harvested here and the heat remains sharp. What flowers remain to burst into bloom are those for the fall–I’ll check on them this weekend. What wonders we all have to pull from our places!
