Part of my writing energy these days has been going into a screenplay that I’ve been writing. I’ve now finished my first draft, I’ve sent it off to a few people to read over and critique it for me, mostly family (although some of the family actually has credentials, I’ve a second cousin who is a film maker and a cousin who is a film editor). I printed it out tonight (looks a little more heftier and real on paper) and am about to start my first read through.
I got to thinking today that I’d like to actually get together with about five other people and have them read it through, so I could hear it out loud. I think I might actually try and organize it.
Originally I thought about this as an exercise in writing, but Walter Mitty fantasies have started to over come me ("you like me. You really like me") and I may actually start pitching it to people. I’ll see.

Congrats! It a huge accomplishment to get through a project like this, even if nothing more happens. I must have 20 half-finished blog posts I can’t get put a bow on.
Two thumbs up!
I’m envious as well. My book has hit a temporary stall around 125k. I’ll finish it, I’m only about 30k or so away and really, it’s criminal to not finish it at this point.
But still, congrats on getting the screenplay done. Pity you can’t sell it to anyone in the US because of the writer’s strike…;)
Thanks blogmom. Put the bows on those posts. You know I can’t get enough of your writing!
Thanks Craig. Actually I can’t belong to the Writer’s Guild until I’ve actually sold a script. So technically I could sell it in the states, they just couldn’t produce it. I’m a little bewildered by the possibilities and haven’t sorted out how best to do this yet. First I’ll try and get it to a point that I like it. There are parts that just suck, and other parts that I really like. Whether anyone else (apart from my family) would like it or not remains to be seen.
