This morning, while I was getting breakfast ready, a client noticed the House Hare was out front, and he has a lady friend with him (or she has a gentleman caller). They were right close feeding on Arctic Willow and then came right up to the house, where one gave the other a little nuzzle before heading off.

As a bonus here are a couple of other predominately black and white photos for you.

Beautiful photo of the bay.
And those hares are striking–I guess you see them routinely, but for someone who only sees the plentiful brown cottontails, a white one is magnificent!
Where did they hide the easter eggs?
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! In all these years of living in the Arctic I’ve never seen an arctic hare. I’m officially jealous. :)Love the almost black and white color scheme…very striking.
Those little guys nuzzling noses has got to be the cutest thing in the world. Great pics!
Nice pix’s!
They are a magnificent animal Nina. It’s been a treat having them here every year.
They left some small brown easter eggs Mike. Not very tasty, definitely not chocolate.
Thanks Kimberlee. Do they occur in your neck of the tundra or is that not part of their range.
Thanks Rurality, very voyeuristically I took several photos of them nuzzling.
Thanks Dave.
Love those Hares !
Thanks Nick. They’re my favourite by a hare.
