I know I’ve been bad… The My mum in Australia wants to talk to you series was left in a lurch some time ago.  I’ve been working on the screenplay is all, and being kept up late by my darling daughter so I’m going back to bed during my writing time.

But on Sunday I had some people over to do a read through of the screenplay. I thought it would be a useful exercise seeing it is a work that is meant to be spoken.  So that evening Kathy and Ravinder (two clients), Darcy, and one of the members here John, came over and read through the script.

I think I have a lot of work still ahead of me.  Some things were confirmed for me, I dislike the opening (well the second and third scene) but I knew that from the start. I left writing them to the end and still don’t care for them.  The strongest character is the one I thought, and the most complex.  Apart from that everyone’s reaction seemed kind of muted.  Being the insecure person I am, I read that as "If you don’t have anything good to say…, say nothing".  We’ll see.

It was good to hear it out loud.  There were many places I found the dialogue to be be choppy and not flowing well.  So I opened up the program a couple of times and stared at the screen, waiting for the inspiration to start so I can get on with the revisions.  I’m thinking that there is no Oscar looming large in my horizon.

So, I guess I best get on with blogging and catch everyone up with some true crime. Right Arcolaura?
