Thanks to Tony over at Milkriver blog I’ve now got a new time drain, a live web cam at a watering hole in Botswana, Pete’s Pond. The webcam is run by National Geographic and runs 24/7, although obviously peak times are in the morning and evening, 7 am to noon and 4-6 pm Botswana Time, (1 am to 6 am and 10am to noon CST).
The wildlife is incredible, hundreds of Guinea Fowl, Elephants, Warthogs, Gazelle, Antelope, Crocodile, Heron, Geese, Baboons, and a host of small birds etc. I love watching the Guinea Fowl rushing madly off in all directions. It seems like one will start to have a drink and then others will notice and start running over. "Look water! Hurry" "Water?" "Hey it’s water" "Everybody, water", and a little while later one will see an interesting twig, and the crowd will rush off over there. "Look a twig! Hurry" "A twig?" Hey it’s a twig" Everybody! A twig" and so on.
Check it out. But be prepared, at peak times it is hard not to be glued to the screen.
