I got Leah a new camera for Christmas, a Sony, and after it arrived I ordered an extra battery for it from Sony Style. It arrived today. I don't know, I'm thinking padded envelope would have worked.
Perhaps a larger box next time.

Wow, that seems just a tad wasteful. I recall last year my roomate getting a food mail box containing only a single head of lettuce.
OMG that is hilarious.
When I ordered my camera last summer, I received the padded camera case and a USB memory packed in a box slightly bigger than the one you got… Not much thought behind that, eh?
Sony loves to waste packaging. I think they sent a bigger box than that for the digital picture frame we got for Christmas.
Incredible… so much for reduce/reuse/recycle.
Wow … maybe it’s part of Sony’s strategy of “let’s not lose sight of the box?”. That is a tad crazy.
The EXACT same thing happened to me just yesterday…looks like the box is even about the same size. I ordered 3 silicone trivets from Pampered Chef. Not even 0.5″ in thickness with all three stacked together…and they came in a giant box filled with packing paper! At least my $8 shipping cost was worthwhile?

The whole thing is incredible and it seems to happen again and again (as everyone’s stories attest). Back when we were building I practically begged a supplier to throw a small part in an Express Post Envelope, but no it had its own box and came up by First Air freight, not the mail. I’ll leave it to you to imagine the difference in costs, never mind the waste of packaging.
