Welcome to Clare’s fine furniture emporium!
Part of my week was spent building a bench for the front entrance way. The bench is made of solid birch and while not the heaviest piece of furniture we own, it is close. I think it turned out rather nice and will go well in the entrance.
The carpets were laid in the guest bedrooms this week also. Now pretty much all they need is the baseboard and that should be ready to go today.
And Gary got the maple treads and risers on the stairs, and a goodly number of spindles for the banister. Originally we had planned on painting the risers and spindles white, but have decided to leave them natural. While I really like the combination of the white riser, natural tread, the reality of it was that it was a lot more work, and a lot more time. Although only the bottom two steps are varathaned you can get a pretty good idea what they’ll look like. Pretty nice, eh?

Unfortunately neither the electrician nor the glue for the flooring have shown up. It’s a good thing this is an alcohol restricted community or I might take it up again.

Oooh, I like the bench. I’ll take two. How may I place my order?
Just send me an email Troutgrrl. Shipping might be a killer though.
That’s a very handsome bench. Beautiful finish.
