The past three days or so there have been a few Narwhal coming right into Arctic Bay. This is a fairly rare occurance as I can remember only one other time since I’ve been here (1999) that they’ve come into Arctic Bay proper. They come into Victor Bay pretty much every year but not so much here.
So here is a short video shot from our deck this afternoon (note the two raven flyby). The medium size one is about 1.9 megs, the small 700 kb.

Wow, Clare, That’s awesome! So many of them. I was expecting just two or three. What a wonderful sight. Thanks so much for putting up this video. I was amazed and enthralled watching it.
Awesome video. I caught the show from my classroom window. My first time seeing a group of narwhal that large. Definitely something I’ll remember for a long time to come.
Great video! I can’t help but admit my only real thought when watching the video was “Snow? Ahh, it really IS coming!”
Thanks Pam, there were quite a few there, but not near what there was in Victor Bay earlier this summer, it was incredible.
Too bad you missed them this summer Darcy, they were literally feet away in Victor Bay.
Yes the snow is here Jaime, looks like winter is here to stay, the Bay should freeze in a couple of weeks and then we’ll really be into it.
I only just discovered your Narwhal post . Shame on me ! 🙂
How awesome to see that from your deck. WOW !
Cheers,
Nick
Hey Nick,
Yeah, it is pretty awesome to see from the deck. When we were building a Bowhead swam by, no video camera handy though. There are a couple of other narwhal videos on the site as well, they’re listed in “My Podcasts” on the left sidebar.
