Last night about 2:30 am, the light was beautiful and I managed to take a much nicer shot of the small ‘berg in Arctic Bay..
This is a closer shot from earlier in the day, taken from the end of the new Airstrip…
Just in case the helicopter company needs some promotional pictures…
And as a bonus, a rather poor shot of a Horned Lark with it’s rather large fledgling. I’ve barely seen any this year but these two were the first I’ve ever seen at the House…
More iceberg pictures

Love that first shot.
Thanks Dave!
So do horned larks get as far as Rankin….trying to identify the small birds that fly up on my walks…look similar but have distinctive two black strips on the head and white in between.
Hi Bonnie, Horned Larks have a very widespread range, and it includes Rankin (most of North America actually). They have a black strip on their forehead, one through their eyes that drops down like a fu manchu moustache, and it is white or yellow in between, and a further black band across their upper breast. They also, if you have a good enough look, have distinct “horns” on their heads, tufts of feathers that stick up a la the Great Horned Owl.
Thanks Clare I will really take note of all the details on the coloring. never can get close enough to the small birds as they flit away.
BTW you’ll be back!
