It might seem incongruous to be posting flower photos this time of year, but what the heck. I had long threatened a wildflower post, and a little colour this time of year never hurt anyone. I did want to do something more comprehensive than this but I seemed to miss much of the wildflower season this year. Perhaps that is a post for next July or August. In the meantime I'll just post a photo of some that I have along with the name and specific name of the flower.

The colour is off on the Hairy Lousewort, my colour balance settings were off that trip. I only have two photos of them and that is the best one, I just figured out how to separate the two this season.
Yeah, other people get their stat boosts by mentioning naked celebrities or naked curling. Me? Its all Purple Saxifrage and frozen sewer vents.

When I sit down and try to find a favourite flower up here Liza I don’t think I can, they all have merits. I’d say Lapland Rosebay because I’ve only just discovered them and they are fragrant and showy, despite their size. But then I think Purple Saxifrage because they visit us first and are everywhere. I like the subtle beauty that is the Arctic Dryads, coloured like Plumaria. But perhaps it is the beautiful tiny flowers of Prickly Saxifrage, pale flowers, long stamens, and delicate orange spots. Yeah that’s the one, at least in this very moment.
Great photos, Clare. Such a diversity. Just watched the narwhale video too. Best to put those poor creatures out of their misery and also not let the meat go to waste.
