I'm feeling lazy these days when it comes to the written word (plus I'm busy doing office work), so my posts have been reflecting that. Much easier to whip up some quick photos. I've got some posts in mind but I'll get to them later. I still would like to do a wild flower post, and I was reminded today that I've got a "True Crime" story that is unfinished. But they are for another day. Here's another iceberg photo, I swear its the last for awhile. I just like the way this turned out, as it seems very typically "north like", with an iceberg, the ATV in the foreground and the boat on calm waters.
Last one, I promise

Nooooooooo! Don’t stop posting iceberg photos!
I love how crisp this picture is, you must have a pretty good camera. And I love the ATV and the houses, it gives an idea of the scale of this iceberg. If I’d had to guess before, I would have probably said, as big as a car. Looking at it now, it must be huge!
Thanks for posting these.
Gorgeous photos, all of them! I know exactly what you mean about the changing light conditions warranting a million takes, I do that too.
Mongoose, fate has probably intervened anyway as the iceberg looked as though it was headed out of the bay this evening. I have a decent camera, a Canon Rebel. The berg while huge is on the smallish side. It is an older Greenlandic iceberg probably and was shedding pieces regularly. Keep in mind that most of it is underwater also, about 5 to 7 times what is above water.
That is the really amazing thing Nancy, especially this time of year when every day has less and less sun. Scenes are constantly changing.
A Canon Rebel is what I call a pretty good camera. 🙂 I have a Canon Powershot and it’s awesome, but the Rebel is a step above that still.
Amazing how much you know about icebergs, but then, I suppose we all know what we live with.
Thanks so much for the pictures. Tell the iceberg I said god speed! LOL
Love the photos of ice and icebergs. Post as many as you like.
It is a good camera Mongoose. I was lucky enough to be a leader on an Arctic Cruise with some leaders who knew an incredible amount about icebergs. A little of it must have rubbed off.
Thanks Matthew & Michele. I just don’t want it to turn into “All icebergs, all the time.”
Hi Clare,
I just got back from a work trip to Arctic Bay (my first time ever there), so I got to see this iceburg, although it has migrated far closer to the other side of the bay, as you know. I just wanted to reassure you that you’re not looney for being so fascinated by this… I probably have 200 pictures of it from all different angles and in different light.
Arctic Bay is absolutely beautiful!
Regards,
Jeff H.
Hi Jeff, Arctic Bay is absolutely beautiful. Hope you had a good trip up here. I suppose one could say that I’m not looney because of the pictures, either that or we both are.
