It’s my dad’s birthday today. He’s 79. The title of this comes from the fact that his dad, my grandfather, was also born April 12th, and his aunt would never let him forget that when he was four he announced that he was four and his dad was forty.
My dad remains the man I most wish I was, and I wish I was there with him today. We spend far too much of our lives apart. Happy birthday Dad.

I love the picture. I was thinking about you today when we went for a drive. There are some amazing looking birds up here that I have no idea what they are. I’ll have to start taking the camera with me to get some pictures of them. These birds are a vibrant royal blue, white and I think some black.
Hi Tina, They are most likely Mountain Bluebirds which should be passing through there about now. Google “mountain bluebird” and you should find lots of pictures.
I have a soft spot for birthday wishes. 🙂
Wow you’re good. I thought they looked like Blue Jays but somehow I don’t think you would find Jays way up here. 🙂
No there are Blue Jays there, which would of course be another possibility, but I assumed that as Blue Jays are such an iconic bird that that wouldn’t be the one you were looking at.
Lovely photo – such character! Happy belated birthday to your dad.
He is such a character pam, he is. But perhaps that’s not what you meant.
