INT STARBUCKS DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER EVENING
Two people stand in line at a well lit, clean Starbucks. Micheline, a third year University student and aspiring actor is behind the counter. JACK, the first customer, dressed in a ski jacket taps his foot impatiently as Micheline approaches him from across the counter.
JACK
I've got a bus to catch. Can I get a Vente Latte quickly please?
MICHELINE
Certainly sir, where are you from?
JACK
West Vancouver. But I was born in Halifax, just flew back from there actually.
MICHELINE
That will be $3.50 please
Jack pays and already sipping his latte turns and heads out of the store. CLARE, the next customer in line, approaches. He's dressed in a t-shirt and shorts. He is very very pale.
CLARE
Wow, it's a scorcher today.
MICHELINE (puzzled)
It's only 8 degrees out.
CLARE
Yeah, I know. I don't know how you stand it. Listen, can I get a latte? That big one. (points)
MICHELINE
Certainly sir. Where are you from?
CLARE
Arctic Bay. Its at the North end of Baffin Island. In Nunavut.
Micheline consults a list taped next to the cash register.
MICHELINE.
Arctic Bay… Arctic Bay. Ah yes, here it is. That will be fifty-two dollars and fifty cents please.
CLARE
Okay. Here you go.

Ha! I’d watch this film, and cry because it hits too close to home. I love it!
You’re the best! That is too funny. 🙂
Short, witty and to the point. 5 stars! That Clare character seems a bit suspicious though. Has he starred in other films?
With or without whip?
Hey Kate, Thanks. Films usually make me cry, air fares always do.
Thanks Tina
Hey Darcy. The Clare character is just a fellow I chose randomly. Sort of a Northern Everyman. You probably recognize the actor that plays him.
I was going to say Dave that with northern airlines they do the whipping for free. But the more I think of it there would probably be an extra charge on top of it.
That was awesome Clare!!!
Thanks Kara
That was so clever. I had a giggle. Did you write this yourself?
Thanks BB. Why yes I did write it myself. Well, me and my team of ghost writers, but I like to claim all the credit.
