Duncan of the wondrously exotic Ben Cruachan Blog writes of the Natural world around his home in Gippsland Australia. He has fauna down there with fantastic names and fantastic beauty, and his writing and photographs do much to contribute to my "South Envy".
If you’ve been following his blog or the news lately you’ll know that wildfires in the Snowy Mountains have been threatening the area, and covering the area in thick smoke. Well the good news is that the pall of smoke has lifted long enough for Duncan to release the latest edition of I and the Bird. Once again this edition is filled with great examples of the best bird blogging the web has to offer.
One of the blogs worth checking out is Bur Oak, a new blog for me, as they contribute their excellent article on Oldsquaw, er sorry Long-tailed Ducks. Unfortunately they don’t seem to post very often. And of course the ever eloquent Via Negativa enlightens us with his thoughts upon discovering a Woodduck Nesting Box. But what the heck, they’re all good. Stop by Ben Cruachan (mind the smoke) and then take a trip around the bird world.
