It must be some sort of a record for a family supper. Last night we hosted Christmas dinner for both sides of Leah’s family and had a great turn out. I’m not sure how many people exactly were here, but I’m estimating around 70. Leah tried to count at one point and had reached over fifty
but a bunch of people arrived after that. We cooked two turkeys and a ham, potatoes, turnips, carrots, macaroni salad, gravy and of course stuffing (and I think I’m finally approaching my mom’s stuffing. If had some left I could send it to the family stuffing expert, my brother, and see what he thinks). It was also a pot luck and I think most people thought there wouldn’t be enough turkey to go around as we had six! Three of them never even went under the knife. It was a mad house.
And although there were no leftovers other than turkey, there was lots of turkey. I love left over turkey. We have a whole, untouched turkey left, and the carcass of the other one I cooked was already making turkey stock for soup before I left for the games. And after the games, I had my first turkey sandwich. Which will soon be followed by hot turkey sandwiches as I also had lots of gravy.
The games last night were the first I had been to this year, and although Hilary was unable to defend her crawling championship (she had a big lead but was distracted by the surging crowd, and was over taking by a competitor using the outlawed "walking" move) I did win a game and a new flashlight (one can never have too many flashlights scattered about the house). By midnight Travis had pretty much exhausted himself and he and I walked home. Or rather I walked, he was carried. He was a pretty excited, pretty tired kid. And he managed to wear dad out pretty good on the walk home also.

You deserve a medal Clare.
Wow, looks like quite the party! I almost didn’t recognize your house at first. I guess it’s turkey sandwiches for your January guests, eh?
Merry Christmas Clare! Sounds like it must have been a most wonderful time.
It was a fun evening, although I mostly hovered about in the kitchen.
We sat down and actually figured how many people came and my estimate was a little high, there were sixty-four.
