Construction

  • A Big Blue Wall

The last bit of siding went up on our West Wall today, and it feels good to get the scaffolding down and see that big blue wall. And although it’s not technically our last bit of siding it may as well be.  We have three spots that still need siding, two sections on the watertank

  • Flooring

It feels really good to see the kitchen start to come to into being. Most of the upper cabinets are up now, except for the one above the fridge, and now we have flooring. The flooring (Armstrong Riverstone) is very nice and I’m happy it looks as good on the floor as it did on

  • One Year

I’ve been tied up with guests, and cooking and I’ve managed to let an anniversary slip by (not Leah’s and mine, that was a week ago tomorrow – four years). It’s been a year since we started construction on the house, not including the piling, which went in last July.  One year. I find it

  • Coffee On the Deck

The weather (touch wood) has been very nice of late.  Lots of sun and calm mornings, although the wind has been strong most afternoons, rattling everything.  The front of the house gets very warm on days like these, and is the perfect place to take our morning coffee and, as the pictures show, occassionally our

  • At long last, in floor heating

We finally installed the last of the in floor heating pipe this morning, and with the exception of about 30 square feet the last of the sub-floor.  I for one am happy to see the end of blue pipe, however I must admit that by the end we had the system worked out pretty good.

  • Crew Stories 6 – Destroyer of Powertools

I’m not sure why but I’ve been wreaking havoc on tools of late. So I guess the latest crew stories should be about me. In order to protect the guilty I’m not going to use my own name in this post, only my initials – Clare Kines. The second tool I wrecked wasn’t really my

  • In Floor Heating Update

Okay, we’ve got the heating figured out. Now when I say we I generally mean Gary, he’s the one who it most often falls on to solve any sort of problem at the House.  (Here’s your picture Sandi). Gary has been a godsend when it comes to this project.  The House (both the project and

  • Picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue

It seems as though I’ve been remiss in posting the last few days.  I usually compose my posts in the morning, while I’m getting ready for work at the house.  These days that bit of spare time seems to have evaporated for various reasons. I’m also finding two opposing phenomenum when it comes to posting
