I’m still sorting through photos of Travis’ and my camping trip, and not up for that post quite yet. But here are three photos from the end of our hike from the canyon to Victor Bay. Nesting Baird’s Sandpipers (Calidris bairdii) were quite upset that we had wandered near their nests. I’m quite taken by the photo of the one in flight (pure unadulterated luck and judicious cropping).

They are lovely pics and lovely birds. I too love the bird in flight — something about those captures that take one’s breath away.

Thanks Liza Lee and John. Last night I actually tried to get some flight pictures and failed miserably. There is much to be said for serendipity.
