Some of the most amazing photography from the Arctic gets posted on a blog from Pangnirtung, called Kluglanoch Corner. I believe he uses a technique known as HDR photography (High Dynamic Range), but what ever it is his images are simply stunning. It behooves you to pay a visit and check them out.
This is one of his images from the site, hope he doesn't mind my posting it, after all it is to direct traffic his way.

Wow.
Wow, those photos are amazing. The commentary by the one with the reindeer skins hanging over the porch is quite funny… which reminds me: I live in Toronto. Where the heck would I be able to buy a reindeer skin? Do you happen to know of any online sites, or physical locations not too far from here where I could buy a couple? I’m hoping to use them instead of a sleeping bag in the summer… Just thought I’d ask, you never know…
Cheers,
Mungo
Pretty cool Tina.
I’m not sure of a source. The skins used up here are all raw, meaning that you’d have to store them in the freezer when they weren’t in use. And you might find them pretty hot in the summer. We’ve usually used them as a sort of insulated ground sheet while camping, they make a big difference. As far as tanned ones go, I have no idea where you’d find them. Perhaps a place like Winnipeg Outfitters?
The cheapest place to buy caribou skins is Bill Worb Furs out of Manitoba. Just google it to find the website. The website is horrible, but if you call, Bill will send you a catalogue. They have the cheapest furs in Canada!
Thanks for that Kara. Leah’s already put together a wish list.
