The Thirteenth I and the Bird is up and running at WoodSong.  Those of you who may be superstitious may not know how lucky you are that it is being hosted by this exceptional photographer and blogger, Cindy. She has put together a carnival that is as warm and inviting as sitting in front of a blazing fire, mulled hot cider in hand.
There is, as always, a wealth of posts, all worth your attention and time.

Being partial to the birds of prey and the role they fill, I greatly enjoyed The Angel of Death by Ronald Smith of the Nature Writers of Texas. Also not to be missed is the great conclusion to a very illuminating series on the Kirkland’s Warbler and Cowbird parastism by the always enjoyable bootstrap analysis.

Eggnog anyone?
