A short time back, John, the affable host of A DC Birding Blog, started the Beautiful Bird Meme. Deceptively simple, the rules were simply to list the ten birds one considered the most beautiful, mark the ones seen with an asterix, and then tag three others. Of course many of us have expounded on them, not satisfied with simple lists.
John has now posted a compendium of these posts, over thirty are linked here. And as a bonus he’s compiled the results. Of course the showy birds came out on top, but there are a few of us taking delight in the subtler birds. Meme’s of course take on lives of their own, and although many are listed here, there are more out there. So follow some of the tags, and see where they will take you.
