I was just in the shower (and I know more than a few of you are in the process of poking out your eyes trying to get that image out of your head), and I somehow started thinking about my wash cloth, and what a marvel it is.
Some twenty years ago (in 1987, 88 or 89 is the best I can narrow it down) I bought a wash cloth from the Body Shop and I have used it every day since then. Or rather I’ve used half of it every day since then. It is a blue cloth made of some sort of wonder plastic, delightfully rough. It holds no odours not even of the soap, and the amazing thing is that after 20 years of continual use it shows no sign of wear. None, zero, zilch. It holds my body wash, lathers it nicely, cleans me and exfoliates my tired dead skin.
If I was Dave Bonta of Via Negativa I’d probably write a poem, but alas I have not those skills. I wonder where I put the other half that I was saving for when this succumbed to time? I might need it in 20 years or so.

Ah I understand.. A nice wash cloth can be a wonder really. Especially if it has unlimited use 🙂
It certainly seems unlimited Aluajala. That is what amazes me.
It never ceases to amaze me how stuff made today just doesn’t seem to last. I have an old brown leather suitcase that has to be at least 25 years old and its outlasted many newer, more expensive ones I’ve wasted money on over the years.
I also have this cloth. I have searched hi and low for a replacement for it (it’s holding up well, but a new one wouldn’t go astray) and I can’t find one. The Body Shop doesn’t make them anymore and I haven’t seen them anywhere else. It drives me mad. It is by far the best facecloth ever.
Hey Darcy, It’s funny but that’s a complaint that is constant with the ages. Twenty years ago when the cloth was the “stuff made today” people were saying the same thing. Perhaps it is because after twenty years the well made stuff is still around and we just don’t remember the crap that has already fallen apart.
Buongiorno Craig, welcome back. I think the Body Shop stopped selling them quite some time ago. I remember looking for one for someone’s gift years ago and they were not being sold. Pity.
