I love that my children are still young enough that a kiss from their father along with a gentle "That's okay, you'll be alright. Dad's here." will cure most ills and pain. I dread when that will no longer be the case.
Yesterday at the games, Hilary was playing in amongst the guy lines of a tent when the inevitable happened, and she tripped over one. My friend, Niore Iqalukjuak, is a gifted photographer and he was there taking candids. He got this sequence of photos that he graciously shared with me.

As a bonus, after reading the last post he also shared this photo of an Ugly Fish, which I believe is the Shorthorn Sculpin (Myoxocephalus
scorpius) which apparently have antifreeze proteins in their bodies.

I love sculpins as well! During my wildlife degree I only got to study them in jars.

Isn’t that the fish they’ve taken genes from and introduced into plants to make them withstand frost better? Or was that just on an experimental stage?

Thanks Kara, ah wildlife in jars. Now I can’t get the memory of the smell of formaldehyde out of my head, or the sight of the pads of my fingers pickled with the stuff from do dissections day after day.
She does have a sweet smile allmycke. I’m not sure about the fish genes though. Perhaps the Antarctic Ice fish?

It is a nice amauti Indigo. Leah’s mother made it. We had a client last month who saw the amautiq on Hilary and wanted one for her daughter. Tootalik had one ready that day for her.
