Thanks to Ida, who pointed me in the direction of this web page from Library and Archives Canada I now have a picture of Atua, who I wrote about here. Atua is on the left, her sister (who is also tattooed), is on the right. The tattoos are hard to make out on their faces, you can see the tattoos on her hand easier.
I’ll have to try and track down the more modern photo of her that I first saw.

wow! i saw atarnajuat (sp?) and thought it was a very very good movie but i didnt know it was based on a true story.
