I'm just coming out of the throws of about a 24 hour internet withdrawal. I seriously have to get a life. The internet goes down and I'm lost and panicking. There were a couple of things that I wanted to get done today, and I was very relieved to see it back this evening.
The first thing I wanted to do was make a post in general. I was making a serious effort to write a post for every day this month (NaBloWriMo or some other weird assortment of letters that I can never remember). Hate to do 29 days in November only to be foiled by the internet on the last day. As a bit of serendipity, this is also my 800th post, so that worked out alright.
The other thing was of course the Canadian Blogging Awards. The northern bloggers were almost shut out. While there was no one from Nunavut or the NWT, Fawnahareo's Place: Life as a Mom in the Yukon is up for Best Family Blog. So head over there, and check out those that did get nominated. Really, I'm not too worked up about it, I really believe the value is in the additional exposure, and the honour is in the fact that someone cares enough to nominate you in the first place.
There's been a little talk in combining the Nunies with the NWT and Yukon etc and I suppose we'll have to think about it. Truth is I kind of like the Nunies as away of exposing more Nunavut Bloggers and it fits with the blog roll, but there is an arguement for combining them. I just don't know. Besides I wouldn't have an excuse to leave myself out of them and I don't think I could take the heartbreak of not winning, which is bound to happen.
Oh yeah, found this cool web site where you can convert unicode to write things upside down. That's right uʍop ǝpısdn ǝʇıɹʍ

Yay for Fawn!
After you’ve had a chance to think about it, let me know how you feel about combining the awards. I could go either way, to be honest.
Combining the awards would give us more blogs to choose from, and it would reinforce the fact that we’re trying to build a “northern blogging community”. On the other hand, we would lose the distinctiveness of the two contests. I always feel like the Nunavut bloggers have more of a blogging community than we do here. And that’s weird, because I am friends IRL with most of the NWT bloggers.
I do know that I’d like to move to a judge-based system instead of a vote-based system.
Yeah, go Fawn. I just went through the other categories, many of the nominees didn’t tickle my fancy, although my fancy is probably pretty peculiar.
And when did Windsor become the apparent centre of the Canadian Blogging Universe?
Keep the Nunies. They rock!!
I know exactly what you mean about being addicted to the internet. When I realized that they stole the laptop AND smashed the monitor I was nearly a big puddle on the floor. My fingers were twitching and all I could think about was not getting online for 2 weeks. How sad is that?!?! Luckily, my fantastic hubby brought home a flat screen TV to use as a monitor until ours is fixed! 🙂
