I think (although I could very well be wrong) that it was George Carlin who said in a routine "Nail together two things that have never been nailed together before and people will buy it." It was a phrase that immediately sprung to mind when I first heard about Grapples. ( Hat tip to Tina )
Can someone explain to me why someone felt the need to make apples somehow taste like grapes? No really, explain it to me in a way that would make sense.

Not just grapes: FAKE GRAPE FLAVOURING. Kind of like grape popsicles. Yuck.
And yet, I did pay money for them. Obviously, I either have too much disposable income or I am a sucker for anything that looks even a little bit different.
Okay, I like grape popsicles. Maybe they’d be alright frozen.
When you walk by them in the store you can smell them from a distance, even through their plastic container!! They do smell like a very fake grape flavour.
I have to admit that I bought them (a year or two ago). I also have to admit that I wasn’t paying good attention, and didn’t realize that they were artficially flavored, or else I wouldn’t have bothered. They were nice and crisp, though. And they were unbruised and fresh looking, at a time when all the other apples in the store looked like they’d been through some hard times.
Joey really likes them, and they sell well here at our Northern. I think they taste like grape Kool Aid, which I don’t like.
