One of the great aspects of Christmas here is that there is frequently hand sewn gifts under the tree. Here is Travis' new Parka and Hilary's Amautiq.

Clare they are georgous! (The kids and the clothes)
The are the cutest little kidlets. Love their new winter dudes! How do you ever say “no” to them!
LOVE that parka. Does it come in big people sizes?
Those are awesome! I am so hoping for a girl so I can get one for her.
Your kids are getting so big! Travis is looking very grown-up. Beautiful kids and clothes!
The kids are gorgeous Tina. I count myself blessed. They do make pretty good models for the clothes don’t they?
Its hard Liza, but I do say “no” quite frequently. Its hard, especially with Hilary. She has all of the “cute” expressions down pat.
They do come in big people sizes Michael. I have two, a zippered “dress” one, and a working one.
They are amazing Kara. Although they are a women’s parka there are plenty of fathers up here who either wear their wife’s or have their own. They are just so darn practical for parents.
It’s scary how quickly they are growing Nancy. I was thinking the same thing about Travis earlier when I was looking at the photo – “Wow, when did he get so grown up” – my little man.
I had one made for myself over in Baker Lake. I still pack Hunter even though I am over 5 months pregnant! It is so easy to carry him in there. I used to love seeing the little girls with their dolls in the pouch. I get a lot of compliments on my amouti over here in the Yukon!
Fantastic coats!! And gorgeous kids! Hope you had a great Christmas! I’m going to be needing an Amautiq in big a big person size now 😉 lol
Awesome looking kids and wellmade warm fuzzies to keep them warm!!! A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY Clare … Carman
You have a great Amautiq Kara.
Thanks Jen. They are amazing and you’ll love it when you get yours. Leah used to always tell me to borrow someones to carry the kids. I used to tell her they don’t make them in my size.
Thanks Carman, you too.
One of the things that I miss most about Nunavut are the parkas and amautiqs. I packed both of my kids around in my amautiq, which was wonderful and so convenient, and I still wear my big duffle parka that I acquired in 1992. Sadly, though, one hardly ever sees those things here in Yellowknife anymore, at least not the kind that are worn in Nunavut.
Your children are beautiful, Clare. Happy New Year to you and your family.
I know a seamstress from Arctic Bay living in Yellowknife Karan, although I’m not sure if she’s still sewing (she makes amazing kamiks) Let me know if you want me to check for you.
Happy New Year to you also.
