Dooced:

To lose one's job because of one's blog or website.

There's apparently trouble in the Nunavut Blogosphere. Right when everything should be at a high point, when we are almost at the stage of chosing winners in the Nunies – The Nunavut blogging Awards, comes word that a couple of our better bloggers are in danger of being dooced.

Heather Armstrong, the woman behind the mega blog – Dooce coined the word dooced when she was fired from her job for writing in her blog.  Now if memory serves me correctly, she felt that in many ways it was a logical thing to have happen, given what she was writing. That, however, isn't always the case. Chez Pazienza was dooced from his producer's job at CNN for his blog, Deux Ex Malcontent. It was probably a very big mistake for CNN as he now uses a very high profile blog to frequently point out flaws at CNN with an insider's insight on many of the flaws the rest of the world would never know about.

It isn't the first time the situation has arising in Nunavut. Other bloggers have been warned, and one of the earliest blogs in Nunavut, predating the House, a blog called Polar Penny, saw it's author fired because of her blog.

Now I'd write more on this, but I'm reluctant to for a couple of reasons. One I don't have direct knowledge of everything that is going on, and two I don't want to compound any problems for these two. I will say this, if they do get dooced no one will win, not the bloggers, not their readers, and certainly not their employers.
