The Best Blog polling ended in a tie, incredibly enough. So I flipped a coin and the winner is…

I'm just kidding, I didn't flip a coin. But here is the deal, I'm on the horns of a dilemma.  At least one of the winners is fine with a tie, and in many ways it fits the spirit of blogging in Nunavut. But the polls didn't work as well as they could have and a couple of people have contacted me to say they were unable to vote.

I spent most of yesterday evening in a meeting that went well over four hours. The voting, which had been close for much of the race, appeared to be well in hand for Port Town Ghosts.  When last I checked, that was the case.  When I got back from my meeting around 11:30pm there was an instant message on my screen basically asking what was up with the Best Blog poll. When I went to look further I discovered our internet service was out.  I finally was able to check the results around 2:00 am, but service had resumed only briefly and I couldn't find anything more. This morning I was told that the poll for Best Blog closed around 10:00 pm, two hours earlier than announced.

I have no idea why that happened, a glitch in the poll, or perhaps I entered the end time wrong (although I don't think I did, but it's not like I've never screwed anything up). So, the tie, coupled with the poll closing early, coupled with some people not voting because of that (but really there was a week. Why wait until the very end?), coupled with the fact that I don't want to have to split the prizes somehow, coupled with the fact that its Best Blog not Best Blogs, this is what I've decided to do.

Unless there is a great hew and cry against it, there will be a runoff poll starting this afternoon, and running until Friday at 5:00 pm ET. Townie Bastard and Port Town Ghosts will be the only two choices. Vote early, just in case it shuts down early again. 

Look for the poll in a couple of hours, its my daughter's birthday and I've got lots to do today.
