The finalists for the Best Job in The World were announced this evening. Congratulations to Erik Rolfsen from Vancouver for being the sole Canadian in the running. It now becomes a job interview. I'd like to think that it was my throwing my heavy weight endorsement his way, that swayed the judges.
While I am disappointed that Michael didn't get the job, I'm quite tickled that Erik has a chance. Erik strikes me as a pretty thoughtful guy, and if you get a chance you should head over to his blog, the Storyteller. Read some of his posts and you'll see what I mean. He also makes a mean video. So best of luck Erik, don't forget to send a postcard from Queensland.
I do have to once again voice my disappointment that Cali Lewis is still in the running. To my mind someone who has insisted that Climate Change is a hoax has no business being a spokesperson for the Great Barrier Reef, which is under threat from the warming of the oceans.

It’s weird that they’ve got 16 when there was only supposed to be 11. Glad to see that Erik is in the running, too.
The day before the names were released they had a press release that they were upping the number to 15 (plus the wildcard). They said basically that they had good candidates and it made no sense to stick to 10 when the idea was to find the best candidate for a job. Makes sense on some levels.
Perhaps they want Mr Lewis out there on the reef and plan to keep him out there until he admits the climate “hoax” has made him a changed man…
Perhaps Michael, Cali is a woman by the way, and has a pretty impressive video application. She’s a host of a web based tech show.
