The title of this post (and the idea behind it) was shamelessly, shamelessly stolen from Seabrooke's wonderful The Marvelous in Nature. Truth be told I'd be much better served by stealing her writing skills, or her skills as a naturalist, but alas I have to make due with mine.
I'm behind. It seems that every time I leave the House I take dozens of photos, the time spent prepping them ends up taking most of my computer time, and then they end up not being posted. So… here are a bunch of miscellaneous photos, connected or not. This might take awhile, and it might no longer be Monday by the time I get them up. Expect a lot of iceberg photos. Really.
Here is the first one, the ever changing iceberg at the foot of Victor Bay, in late evening sun.
More photos below the fold.
From the same evening, here is my son skipping stones.
And my daughter giving me a heart attack.
Again, same time and place, a contemplative photo. Two actually, one of Travis, one of Hilary.
What can I say, I love Ravens and now that the breeding season is done they are once again becoming the dominant fauna around here.
Snowbuntings will still be kicking around until after the snow flies. They've made a transition from insects to gleaning seeds now, as one bounty is replaced with another.
Summer and fall is boating season up here. There are often boats heading out of Arctic Bay, usually people heading out seal hunting.
Back to the Victor Bay iceberg. These two photos were taken within a half an hour of each other, from essentially the same location. A little rotation and it's a different 'berg.
And that'll have to hold you for a bit, but there are more to come.

Don’t knock your formidable skills as a writer or naturalist, Clare!
Those shots are terrific. Do you offer any of them as postcards at the House?
Your writing is wonderful. It is so descriptive of the life you live and gives us a peek into the wonders you see.
I love that action silhouette shot of Travis skipping stones! And it seems you’ve had lots of icebergs this year, the year I was in AB I only saw one, and it was far away.
Your first iceberg photo looks like a big scoop of melting ice cream.
Aw, you’re too hard on yourself! I’d love to get the sort of dramatic photos you do. But thanks for the kind words. I hear ya on the time thing. I didn’t quite get to the writing part of my Monday Miscellany today, though the photos are done – it’ll be a Tuesday Morning Miscellany instead this week.
Thanks Mike. I’ve actually been thinking lately about getting some post cards or note cards done. I’ve scoped out Moo.com a bit. I think it will be a project for the winter though.
Thank you Linda
Hey Nancy. Yes there has been a lot of icebergs around this year. Several close and several more in Admiralty.
Hi John, That iceberg looks different ever time I see it. When I get my hike of last Friday post up you’ll see another photo of the same iceberg.
Hey Seabrooke, hope you don’t mind my stealing your idea. The photos just seem to take up so much of my time, especially if I have to go back and search for something I wanted to post and never got around to.
