The last couple of years have seen a growth in the number of icebergs around. Or at least that I'm noticing. Part of that is just the vagaries of currents and the wind (although icebergs are mostly driven by current not wind, there is a lot more of them under water than above). Part of it though is that most of our icebergs are born in Groenland, and calving is accelerating. Accelerating at an alarming pace. This article in the Guardian is a good read if you want to get a little idea of what is happening over there.

This summer it has been rare that we haven't been seeing bergs, and not only the ones that have drifted in close. When Admiralty Inlet is clear you can usually see one or two floating way out on it. As of last night there are two icebergs in Victor Bay and another was visible just beyond Nuvua, the entrance to the Bay.  That's a lot of tea.
