Happy Canada Day everyone. Although I miss wearing Red Serge every July 1st, I know I'm a lucky man to live in a special part of a special country. As Queen Elizabeth II said today at the celebrations in Ottawa (which was produced by my cousin by the way) this country "… has dedicated itself to being a caring home for its own, a
sanctuary for others and an example to the world."

I’m not Canadian, but have many friends who are. I’m proud to call them my friends and happy to have Canada as our neighbors to the east. Many Canadians also visit my home in Alaska. I hope they go back home with a good impression of my state and the USA.

A bit late, but hope you had a great day. The 4th of July is always a bit melancholy now living in a place where it is just another day. Memories of summers in Wisconsin are pretty good.
