With the roof in place it was time to get the cabin closed in. And the first step in doing that was getting siding on. We used panels for siding, and they install onto the strapping that covers the Tyvek. As mentioned in a previous post this creates channel behind the siding, so that any moisture that gets through can drain away and not rot the wood. The siding needed to go on before the windows could go in, and as you can see in the photos, the two happened together. Siding would go up, the window opening cut out with a router, and the windows would go in. We used reclaimed windows, so it was a bit of a mishmash of style, but it all works.
With the siding on much of the building, and the windows all in, it was now the end of September. Time was running out quickly to get it completely closed in, and the long winter's pause.
