Our internet, which was down the entire Thanksgiving weekend is back. The other things that are pulling me in other directions never left. While hopefully I'll finish working on a more substantial post I thought you might enjoy the views I had the other day.
I'm not kidding when I say that the new sewage lagoon in Arctic Bay is probably the most scenic in the world. Here is the view from one end towards Arctic Bay,
And here is the view from the other end towards Victor Bay. It's a long way off, but there is an iceberg in there.

Its even more beautiful than Baker Lake’s Sewage Lagoon… although I think Canmore’s sewage lagoon could give it a run for its money, I think Arctic Bay would come out on top.
And there’s my idea for the next photobook Jennith, “Breathtaking: Sewage Lagoons of Canada”
I’m a little concerned that a gate has appeared at the bottom, we drive up fairly regularly and I’d hate to lose that access.
Amazing Clare. Nice photos.
Thanks LS.
One of our favorite places to walk and photograph shorebirds when we spent a summer in Arcata, Ca was the Arcata Marsh. It’s home to the Arcata Wastewater Treatment Plant and Wildbird Sanctuary http://www.humboldt.edu/arcatamarsh/index.htm). Smart sewage treatment can be absolutely beautiful!
I’m going to try that link one more time:

Thanks for the link Robin. There’s also a progressive wastewater treatment lagoon in my home town of Roblin, Mb. It uses created wetlands to filter the waste water after the traditional loons. I’ve only looked for birds there twice but it is a nice little area.
