Dave, the tireless blogger, webmaster, handyman, volcano watcher, and good guy over at Bird TLC,
has tagged me with another meme (Golden child? I have two). The rules are…
1. Go into your archives.
2. Find your 23rd post.
3. Post the fifth sentence (or closest to it).
4. Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions.
5. Tag five other people to do the same thing.
The appropriate sentence is "They are made of aluminum and are about 3 feet high, and three feet wide.", which of course is from my post detailing the martian landing pods that were descending on Arctic Bay on June 27th, 2005. Well not really, it is a description of some drywall ladders, in a post about one of my crew that we took to calling Mr. Magoo.
Five people to tag? Any volunteers?

We haven’t had a crew story in a while.
You know what? I just don’t get this meme. What does it tell anyone about you or your blog. It is so random that I don’t think it’s very enlightening or informative. Sigh.
I don’t get it either, but I looked it up just for you: “They always seem to be worse on dark days.” (The chicken-grabbing coyotes.)
Well, the previous post is kind of a crew story, at least that’s what I filed it under. Truth be told there haven’t been as many, and the ones I have just kind of make me grumpy instead of laugh, so I’ve left them out.
I, too, don’t really get this meme, but I was tagged by Dave, how could I refuse. The one thing I thought mighht be interesting would be to compile the responses and make them into a story, sort of a writing experiment.
They always seem to be worse on dark days. They are made of aluminum… etc.
Of course I don’t have the energy for something like that these days of the great sleep depravation experiment known to the world as Hilary. Anybody know when Tony’s coming back?
What I liked about this meme I got from John @ DC is that it was short. It also made me check out some of my old post from way back and see how things have changed. I know my writting has gotten better. It also had me check on some birds I forgot about.
What’s interesting about this meme is that this is the second time I’ve seen it come around (see http://thomasburg-walks.blogspot.com/2005/09/twenty-third-post-meme.html from September 2005). A successful meme like a successful gene is one that persists and multiplies throughout a population. I picked it up (I wasn’t tagged) for the reasons Dave gives in favour of it–it’s quick and easy to do, and gets you to look back at your old posts.
