I imagine that, if you read this blog, you read Pete McGregor’s blog pohanginapete. If you don’t you need to. Stunning photographs coupled with brilliant writing make Pete stand out above most of the blogosphere.
Back when I was first tagged with John’s Beautiful Bird meme I tagged Pete. I had hoped that he would respond as I had an inkling that he wasn’t much of a meme person. I fully expected that if he did respond it would be a different approach, masterfully written. And all though it took awhile he did not disappoint. So go read his Beautiful Bird post, one that stands out from the crowd. I mean where else will you find a chook listed?

Clare–congratulations on provoking Pete. I always appreciate his subtle language and deft ideas, and I especially envy his photographs.
I’m glad you tagged Pete, and that he responded in his inimitable style. Quite a beautiful post.
A few months ago when I first found Pete’s blog, I saw his photo of The Rifleman, New Zealand’s smallest bird, and immediately fell in love. I named it on my meme as the bird I’d most like to see. I’m happy he mentioned it on his list. His response is delightful to look at and fascinating to read, just as all his posts are. Great tag, Clare. Thanks!
Hey Clare, thanks for the generous words. I’m honoured. Although I do have reservations about “memes”, this was a good prompt (or, as Larry said, provocation…) and got me exploring ideas, which I always enjoy.
And Larry, Robin and Pam; thankyou also for your kind comments. I’m really pleased you appreciated the post.
