We’ve had a lot of visits at the House lately from birds. Both American Pipits, Lapland Longspurs and Snowbuntings come to the deck several times a day.
About 10 minutes ago I opened the door to the Great Room to cool off the house. I stepped out onto the clients deck to take in some of the beautiful day. I noticed that there were two Snowbuntings on our deck so I leaned on the railing to watch them for awhile. Three newly fledged Snowbuntings, still with some down on them landed on the railing I was leaning on, the closest about three feet away. I turned to watch them and listened to them twitter and was surprised when my movement didn’t scare them away. They sat and talked to each other for a couple minutes before flying off to join the others on our deck. Eventually there were eight on our deck, and as they began to fly away I came back inside.

Where was your camera Clare? 😉
Oh, well out of reach in our living room. You know, where I could easily photograph them from our deck.
