I’m the type of person who’d just as soon that the weather stayed cold after the onset of winter. As much as I look forward to the spring thaw I don’t like any sort of freeze/thaw cycle. Winters arrived, it might as well stay that way.
So, I’m not enjoying the weather of the last few days. A quick glance at Environment Canada’s site shows that it is currently 3C (37F)with a 15 Knot wind. Snow is quickly melting, there’s been some freezing rain, and I understand the roads are very slick. The local workers couldn’t make it to Nanisivik today, the roads were just too slippery.
It’s grey, dark and miserable out. Bring on the winter.

While our ideas of the ideal winter weather must be very different, I still know what you mean. I like it to freeze and then my favourite -10C at night, -5C in the day. Freeze-thaw cycles throughout the winter are hell on the garden. And I think of freezing rain as a curse of the south–not something you should have to contend with up there. It’s just wrong!!
