Every once in awhile I got a whole bunch of hits from a single search term. Now I’m not talking about hits on Purple Saxifrage which I get on a daily basis… from all over the world. I still have no idea why so many people are searching for it, but I digress.
Today it is Arctic Gull(s). Was there a TV show on? or is it a unit of study in school for the States? All day, from all over the US, California, Utah, Illinois, New Hampshire, Oregon, Texas, Ohio… etc.
Maybe it’s a new band? Or Disney’s latest Hockey Team?

The Artic Gull has been spotted earlier this week in Southern California – at the Salton Sea, which is a highly unusual occurance and inspired widespread interest in the “lower 48”.

It’s funny the things that bring people to your blog, and the things that blogs end up being high in the search engine results for… my #1 lately is “yellow fuzzy caterpillar”!
Ah so that’s it. Thanks quakewatcher. Of course it’s not just any old Arctic Gull but a Ross’s Gull. Such a pretty delicate bird. Too bad it’s not in it’s breeding plumage, the pink wash seems so unusual in a gull. It’s a long way from home. I hope it finds it’s way back.
Hey Rurality. Perhaps if the Ross’ Gull was eating yellow fuzzy caterpillars we’d both get the traffic.
