So last night, or more precisely this morning, I was sitting with Hilary watching TV when I heard a noise, and then the sound of running water. Opening up the kid’s washroom I quickly discovered that the running water was running out of the ceiling light and onto the floor.
There is a client bathroom right above ours and I quickly rushed up and got the client out of the bathtub where the client was enjoying a late soak, after a long day. (Un)fortunately the bath was not the source of the leak, (or at least readily apparent as the source). As far as I can tell there is no water coming from the pipes feeding the shower/bath, and nothing obvious any where in the client bathroom. So that leaves the source as somewhere in between the first and second floor.
So, here I sit, pouring (sorry) over old construction photos trying to get a sense of what is up there and why it would burst, waiting for a plumber to come and start tearing apart my ceiling. The water in the house is turned off, as are my clients I suspect, and I’m trying not to think about the mess this is going to be, especially if the leak is not from the area directly above the light.
Sheesh.

Ouch. You have my empathetic condolences. We too live in a house with ceiling leaks. Hope yours are easily fixed, as ours are vague, mobile, and persistant.
